Have your say on proposed merger of Flitwick school and pre-school
Monday, 14 January 2019
We've launched a statutory consultation regarding a proposed change of age range for Templefield Lower School which would enable a merger between the school and Windmill Pre-School.
The merger, put forward by the governing body of Templefield and the committee for Windmill, who share a site, would require the school to lower its age range from 4-9 to 2-9 years for the start of the September 2019 term.
The proposals will not affect the age at which children are admitted into pre-school or the school’s determined admissions agreements but would see the governing body take over the management of the pre-school.
Following a four-week joint preliminary consultation carried out by the school and the pre-school in October, which resulted in overwhelming support for the merger, the school’s governing body and pre-school committee submitted a request to us to consider the change of age range and to carry out a statutory consultation for the proposal.
After the close of the consultation, the decision whether to approve the change will be made by the Council’s Executive Memberfor Families Education and Children after consideration of the responses to both parts of the consultation process.
Responses to the consultation are required by 5pm on 31 January.
