We're encouraging community groups to apply for assets grant
Monday, 11 July 2022
Local groups are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £25,000 to improve or provide new community infrastructure.
For the fourth bidding round of our Community Asset Grants Scheme, we're made £200,000 available for eligible groups to apply.
It aims to help local voluntary and community organisations make projects a reality by offering matched-funding grants to enable them to invest in their buildings and community facilities.
The grant scheme is open to a range of Central Bedfordshire organisations, including voluntary and community groups, not-for-profit organisations, parish or town councils and social enterprises.
Among many others, previous grants awarded include an all-weather football pitch, a woodland play area in Ickwell, solar panels for Lidlington Church and a new floor for the village hall in Studham.
Councillor Tracey Stock, Executive Member for responsibility for Communities said:
The Community Assets Grant Scheme, which is in addition to the Ward Councillor Grant Scheme, has proven to be an effective way to directly support a variety of organisations and groups that benefit local communities. To date, we have awarded £739,470 in matched-funding grants and with this fourth bidding round offer of £200,000, we continue to build on this successful model. By continuing to provide substantial grants to help improve the buildings, facilities and environment, we can boost existing fundraising and take it to another level. This bidding round closes at 5pm on 25 July so I urge groups to act now.
