Garden waste collections to resume across Central Bedfordshire
Monday, 21 February 2022
With gardening season just around the corner, we'll be restarting garden waste collection service from Monday 28 February, on your next normal recycling collection day.
We'll collect either the 2 council-issued garden waste bags or one bin per household.
A bin tag, reminding residents of their garden waste collections, will be attached to bins prior to the first collection. Find out more information about garden waste collection.
It is important that residents place the right waste in their garden waste bin or bags, otherwise collections crews may not be able to empty them.
Yes please:
- grass cuttings
- plants and weeds
- flowers
- prunings
- hedge clippings
- leaves and bark
- pot plants
- pond plants
No thank you:
- food waste
- kitchen/general household waste
- compostable bags/packaging
- soil and turf
- rubble and hardcore
- wood or glass
- animal or pet bedding/waste
- plastic bags
- plant pots
Residents with enough space in their gardens are also encouraged to home compost. It’s a good way to dispose of and reuse your food and garden waste. It creates nutrient-rich food for your garden and it’s a great way to help the environment. Find out about subsidised compost bins and accessories, if you want to give it a go.
Alternatively, additional garden waste can be taken to one of our tidy tips. These are open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. They require no booking, but bring ID to confirm you are a Central Bedfordshire resident. Permits are required for certain vehicles and some types of waste.
