Local groups celebrate after grant success
Wednesday, 1 September 2021
Our grant scheme, which encourages local voluntary and community groups to apply for grants of up to £25K, has awarded £200,000 to twelve groups, following its latest bidding round.
Our Community Assets Grant Scheme, which was open for bids from April to July this year (2021), helps local voluntary and community organisations make projects a reality by offering matched-funding grants to enable them to invest in their community facilities.
Flitwick Cricket Club was awarded £25,000 towards its clubhouse redevelopment, a toddler play area in Shefford was awarded £20,000 and an all-weather football pitch in Houghton Regis received £25,000.
The grant scheme is open to a range of Central Bedfordshire organisations, including voluntary and community groups, not-for-profit organisations and parish or town councils.
Our Executive Member with responsibility for Communities, Councillor Tracey Stock, explains:
Our Community Assets Grant Scheme is another way we can support the many organisations and groups who benefit the people of Central Bedfordshire. By providing substantial matched-funding grants to help improve community assets, we boost their existing fundraising and take it to another level. The groups that have benefited from this third bidding round will be able to improve their facilities for all ages which, in turn, enhances their local communities.
