We're supporting English Tourism Week this month
Thursday, 20 May 2021
We're backing national tourism board Visit England’s latest campaign – English Tourism Week – which starts on Saturday, by highlighting the range of visitor attractions people can enjoy.
An annual celebration of English tourism, English Tourism Week, will take place from 22 to 31 May to highlight the importance, value and contribution businesses in the tourism sector make to the local economy. This year’s theme is ‘Here for Tourism’ aims to support the recovery of the sector as businesses reopen and start to rebuild, as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.
Our Executive Member for Planning and Regeneration, Councillor Kevin Collins said:
The pandemic has had a devastating impact on our local tourism sector. As restrictions ease the visitor economy really needs our support to help the recovery of the industry. We are fortunate to have many wonderful attractions for people to enjoy here in Central Bedfordshire.
If you are thinking of booking a day out or a break, please remember we have a range of high-quality destinations here on our doorstop. Many local businesses have lost months of vital trading as a result of the pandemic.
Businesses can download this year’s ‘Here for Tourism’ toolkit and people can share their photos on social media via Visit England’s dedicated hashtag #EnglishTourismWeek21.
A social media campaign has started which highlights different tourism businesses reopening in the area. You can keep up to date by following our BeCentralBedfordshire Twitter page.
