LGSS Law crowned Law Firm of the Year
Friday, 7 May 2021
LGSS Law Ltd, a private law firm part-owned by us, has been awarded Law Firm of the Year by the Cambridgeshire Law Society.
The firm, which is also part-owned by Cambridgeshire County Council, North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council, provides legal advice to local authority and not for profit clients and has been working closely with local authorities throughout the pandemic.
The Law Firm of the Year Award recognises, amongst other things, how the firm met the challenges of COVID-19 including delivering excellent client service, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of staff, and demonstrating all-round excellence during the past 12 months.
LGSS Law Ltd is unusual in that it was established in 2015 as an alternative business structure (ABS) and is wholly owned by public bodies.
Councillor David Shelvey, our Executive Member for Corporate Resources, said:
Having quality legal advice and support is essential for us in delivering services for the residents and businesses in Central Bedfordshire – everything from social work to highways and developer agreements. Some cases are extremely complex and challenging and we’ve been delighted with the service that LGSS Law has provided.
Councillor Richard Wenham, Leader of the Council, added:
We’re extremely proud of what LGSS Law has achieved in the last year. The roots of LGSS Law are right in local government and the work they have provided pre- and during the pandemic has been exemplary.
Debbie Carter-Hughes, Executive Director, LGSS Law Ltd, said:
The Cambridgeshire Law Society Law Firm of the Year award recognises the outstanding work undertaken by everyone at LGSS Law Ltd over the last 12 months.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for their commitment and hard work to rise to the challenges, both professionally and personally, that the pandemic has created.
