COVID-19 testing available in Arlesey
Wednesday, 26 August 2020
Following an increase in coronavirus cases in the Stotfold, Arlesey and Shefford area, a mobile testing unit is available in Arlesey for residents with symptoms.
Together with the NHS, we've arranged for a mobile testing unit to be available at Pendleton Sports Centre, Etonbury Academy, in Arlesey to make it easier for residents in the area to get tested if they have symptoms.
The testing unit will be a drive-through test centre in the car park of Pendleton Sports Centre on the following days:
- Wednesday 26 August
- Thursday 27 August
- Saturday 29 August

Cases increasing
Last week, we confirmed there were 11 cases in the Stotfold, Arlesey and Shefford area in the week ending 16 August, this was a marked increase compared to the one case the week before.
Since then, there have been a further 6 confirmed cases in the week ending 23 August. We expect this number to change over the next few days, as the results of anyone tested at the end of the week come through.
To help avoid spreading the virus, please ensure you:
- keep 2 metres apart from anyone outside your household or bubble
- wear face coverings in places where they're mandatory, or if you think you are unable to maintain social distancing
- wash your hands regularly
Some people don't show symptoms, so it is more important than ever that we don’t take risks and stick to following these measures to control the spread of the virus.
Councillor James Jamieson, Leader of Central Bedfordshire Council said:
We need everyone to help control the spread of the virus in this area. The new mobile testing unit will make it easier for anyone with symptoms, however mild, to get a test.
If you do test positive, it’s also really important that you are honest and open about who you have been in contact with. No-one will get into trouble, but this information can help to protect others.
