Have your say on changes to Flitwick school
Friday, 20 December 2024
We're consulting on a reduction in the maximum number of pupils that can be admitted into each year group at Kingsmoor Lower School in Flitwick, to enhance the learning environment for children.
The pupil admissions number (PAN) is currently 45, meaning that pupils in years 1 and 2 (5 to 7 year olds) are taught in mixed across 3 classes, while children in years 3 and 4 (7 to 9 year olds) are also mixed.
Following a review of school place forecasts, and with the support of the school’s governing body, residents are being asked for their views on reducing the maximum number of pupils in each year from 45 to 30, from the 2026/27 academic year, to benefit children by ensuring they receive single age teaching.
Councillor Steve Owen, our Executive Member for Children's Services, said:
This proposed adjustment at Kingsmoor Lower School reflects our commitment to creating optimal learning conditions for students while ensuring schools operate efficiently. We urge parents and everyone in the community to participate in the consultation process and make their voices heard.
