Young carers enjoyed well-deserved break over Easter holidays
Thursday, 25 April 2024
Young carers from Central Bedfordshire were treated to a series of exciting and well-deserved activities over Easter, providing them with a much-needed break from their caring responsibilities.
Organised by our Early Help Team, the activities aimed to give the young carers a chance to relax, have fun and create lasting memories.
The holidays kicked off with a day at Mead Open Farm, where the young carers had a blast feeding the animals and even had the unique opportunity to witness a calf being born!
Another group were treated to a VIP cinema experience, enjoying a private screening of Kung Fu Panda and snacking on pizza. And the fun continued with a bowling extravaganza, where they had a fantastic time knocking down pins and celebrating their strikes.
Councillor Hayley Whitaker, our Executive Member for Families, Education and Children, said:
Taking a break is essential for the well-being of young carers. Balancing school, caring responsibilities, and personal time can be challenging, and it's vital that they are able to take time away from these responsibilities.
We were delighted to support our young carers with these special activities over the Easter holidays. They do an incredible job every day, often putting the needs of others before their own. Providing them with opportunities to have fun, relax, and take a break from their caring responsibilities is essential. We are proud to stand by them and support them in any way we can.
