New play park opens in Meadow Way, Leighton Buzzard
Friday, 12 April 2024
We have opened a new play park in Meadow Way, Leighton Buzzard, providing a new exciting outdoor experience for children between 6 and 16 years old.
On Friday (5 April), our housing service proudly opened a new state-of-the-art play park and a brand-new basketball hoop, ensuring families in the neighbourhood have plenty of fun options for outdoor activities. The new equipment in the playpark includes a roundabout, a multi-play unit with a slide and a climbing wall and is suitable for all abilities and individual confidence levels.
An existing play park, hidden between houses towards the back of the estate, has been removed, and the new park built on the Green in the middle of the estate. New pathways have been created so it’s easy for families to get to the park, which is now more visible and we are hoping this encourages more families to use it.
The new park is part of a series of estate improvements the housing service has made to the Meadow Way estate. These include extensive tree works, maintaining the health of the trees in the area, installing planters outside the community centre, and working with Community Payback to clear pathways and alleyways. The Tenancy Involvement and Engagement team have also held a number of drop-in sessions on the estate to help tenants with housing matters and signpost to support.
Councillor Steven Watkins, Executive Member for Business, Housing and Public Assets said:
The opening of the new play park coincided with the Easter holidays, allowing families to really explore and make the most of it. Our housing officers have received great feedback from families on the Meadow Way estate, who have told us that their children are really enjoying the new equipment; something I hope continues for years to come. This new play park is a fantastic addition to Meadow Way, providing families with even more opportunities for outdoor fun and quality time together. Ensuring tenant satisfaction is our top priority, and projects like this truly enhance the well-being and happiness of our community members.
