Ombudsman information and useful links
There are two different Ombudsman who deal with the Council’s Housing Services and access to the Ombudsmen are free, independent and impartial.
The Housing Ombudsman deals with complaints about social housing, including the Council’s role as a social landlord.
The Local Government & Social Care Ombudsman deals with complaints about most council housing services other than social housing.

Why might you contact the Ombudsman?
You might contact the Ombudsman:
- if you have difficulty reporting the issue or your complaint has not been responded to
- if you have completed our complaint procedure and remain dissatisfied with the outcome. The information regarding the Ombudsman will be in your final letter
- where agreement over an extension period cannot be reached, so you can challenge the landlord’s plan for responding and/or the proposed timeliness of a landlord’s response
