How to terminate your council garage rental agreement
If you no longer want to rent a garage, you will need to give us seven days’ notice in writing.
You can do this by emailing neighbourhoodhousing@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk, including your full name, address, garage address and the date that the keys will be returned. This will be the first Monday after the seven-day notice period and will be your termination date.
Your notice period will start as soon as we receive your notification that you no longer want to rent the garage. Once we receive your notification, we will confirm the date that your garage contract will end.
Before you return your keys, please remember to:
- clear the garage of all possessions, including any fixings, such as shelving, hooks etc.
- sweep the garage clean
- clear any rent owing up to the date of your contract ending (termination date)
It is important that you clear the garage before returning the keys. Any items left behind will be disposed of, and the costs incurred recharged to you.
Returning your keys
We will need 2 garage keys to be returned with any gate keys to the block (where applicable). If you have lost a key, please get this replaced before you hand the keys back, as any missing keys will be replaced and the costs incurred recharged to you.
