Introduction to planning guidance

We have a series of planning guidance documents, adopted as either supplementary planning documents, technical guidance or development briefs.

The list below will be updated as new documents are adopted or existing documents are reviewed.

Supplementary planning documents (SPDs)

Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) provide guidance on policies in the adopted Local Plan in Central Bedfordshire. They are a material consideration when determining planning applications.

Technical documents

Technical documents have been produced to provide guidance, in some cases to support Local Plan policy, and are a material consideration when determining planning applications.  

Development briefs

Development briefs and masterplans assist in ensuring new developments are designed to the highest possible quality. We endorse a development brief before a planning application is determined and, once endorsed, the brief will be a material consideration in the determination of future planning applications.
