Food Fairness Grant Scheme

The Food Fairness Grant Scheme is designed to enable voluntary, community, social enterprises and other organisations to work to create a healthier and more sustainable food environment for the long term in Central Bedfordshire. Ensuring residents particularly those facing hardship have access to healthy affordable food is a critical component of our work to deliver fairness.

In April 2024 we held a ‘Food Summit’ where over 50 colleagues from local voluntary / community sector organisations, as well as councillors, came together to share their experiences and insight when helping people to access healthy food. The feedback from the Summit identified key areas of intervention which would directly help people in hardship to access affordable healthy food.

Grants are available to support local groups and new initiatives to tackle food insecurity and strengthen the skills and infrastructure around healthy, affordable food in the longer term.
