Decision on the future of Shelton Lower School
In August 2018, following public consultation, our Executive Committee made a decision to close Shelton Lower School.
An appeal was submitted to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator regarding the closure decision. The Schools Adjudicator has made a decision to uphold the appeal to keep Shelton Lower School open, the reasons for this are explained in the adjudicator's letter (PDF 620.2KB)

We were surprised at the adjudicator's decision and are, as ever, committed to working closely with the school to address the reality of the falling number of pupils on its roll. For existing pupils and their families, we recognise that the ongoing uncertainty created by the falling pupil numbers is difficult.
