What to do if your child is experiencing difficulties in school
There are many staff working in schools who can support a child who is having difficulties. Whatever the issue, it is best to address these with the school as soon as possible, and not leave them hoping things will resolve themselves.
In the first instance, it is usual to contact the child’s class teacher or form tutor, but you can also speak to the Designated Teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Attendance Lead and pastoral staff working in the school. If you are not sure, ring the school reception and they will be able to signpost you to the most suitable member of staff.
