How we will do this - data, advice, resources and training
Data
- we analyse and utilise available data to identify the strengths and needs of our CWSW cohort locally
- for this cohort, we have developed a clear strategy to address local barriers to learning and engagement
Advice
- we offer a weekly virtual advice and sign-posting service for parents, carers and professionals in both education and social care, where there is a query around education for a child or young person within the CWSW cohort
- we offer a monthly in-person advice and sign-posting service for professionals in social care, where there is a query around education for a child or young person within the CWSW cohort
- we signpost parents, carers and professionals in both education and social care to services and evidence-based resources and training to support with their education queries
Resources
- we review current research and new evidence-based resources, so that the advice we offer is aligned with current thinking
- we identify where resources are lacking and seek to discover where these may exist or whom we might approach to provide these
- we develop resources to support in the barriers to engagement and learning for CWSW
Training
The UK’s National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidance (2015) recommends that school staff should receive training on attachment difficulties, and we agree that such training is vital in promoting success for CWSW within education.
- we highly recommend the Therapeutic Thinking approach to all schools and education settings within Central Bedfordshire Council, details of which can be found on Learning Central
- we also provide educational settings within CBC with Attachment and Awareness & Emotion Coaching Training and run a social worker training program
