What does the Health and Wellbeing Board do?
The Health and Care Act 2022 did not change the statutory duties of the Health and Wellbeing Board as stated in the Health and Social Care Act 2012, which include:
- preparation of a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) which provides local policy-makers and commissioners with a profile of the health and wellbeing needs of the local population
- developing and agreeing a Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWS). This uses the information within the JSNA to tackle local health and wellbeing priorities
- developing a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) which reviews the provision of pharmaceutical services across Central Bedfordshire to determine whether these meet the needs of the population
- encouraging and promoting integrated working between health and social care services through the Better Care Fund
- encouraging and promoting integrated working between e-commissioners and other local services, including housing and voluntary sector services
