In Autumn 2023, we consulted on the future of Houghton Regis Day Centre because a review found that the building is considerably underutilised and outdated. Community space was identified within All Saints View, our new Independent Living Scheme in Houghton Regis, which could be used to replace the existing Day Centre building.
The results of the consultation are on our website as part of the Executive Committee papers. Most respondents agreed with the preferred option and could see the benefits of moving to All Saints View.
The Executive Member and officers identified that the space at All Saints View can accommodate 40 people, including space for mobility aids, equipment and exercising and that assessments will be undertaken to understand the needs of each person prior to any move.
The Executive made a decision on 6 February 2024 to re-provide the day centre in the community space at All Saints View independent living scheme.
