Community Asset Transfer
We have developed guidance to help eligible organisations make a request for a Community Asset transfer. We recognise and support the contribution that the voluntary and community sector brings to the vitality and wellbeing of communities across Central Bedfordshire.
Where they or any other group with a community interest has a business case for delivering activities and services from a council-owned asset, we will consider a request to transfer or lease that asset to the community.
Any asset that may be considered for transfer will, in most cases, have been ‘declared surplus’ by us i.e. surplus to its former operational requirements or surplus and available for transfer. If there is no intention for the asset to be declared surplus it will generally not be available for transfer and the applicant will be notified accordingly. However, each request will be considered on its merits.
