LGBTQ+

Growing up can be hard for some LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning and other) children and young people. Mental health problems such as depression or self-harm can affect any of us, but they're more common among people who are LGBTQ+. Children and young people need to feel safe and supported and may need help from a trusted adult as they begin to explore their identities and understand their feelings.

When accessing and referring to the organisations detailed on these pages, professionals should be mindful that in some cases guidance may exceed and conflict with statutory guidance provided by the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
