Why recruit an apprentice?
Recruiting an apprentice can bring many benefits to your team or organisation.
Apprentices:
- are easier to recruit – recruiting someone with the specific skills and experience you’re looking for can be difficult, whereas recruiting someone who is unqualified or inexperienced, but willing to learn, is much easier
- bring in fresh new skills and talent – apprentices may not start with the skills and knowledge you’re looking for, but they may bring other useful talent into your team/organisation
- want to learn – teach them the specific skills and knowledge relevant to your team and organisation, with the intention to keep them on after completing
- stick around – apprentices often look to stay with the same employer after completing their apprenticeship
- incur minimal training costs – if you’re a levy payer, make the most of your levy funds (if you don’t use them, you lose them), or if you don’t pay the apprenticeship levy, take advantage of the 95% government contribution towards apprenticeship training costs
