A to Z of recycling - Carrier bags

Where possible, try to avoid soft plastics like carrier bags by using a reusable shopping bag and buying fruit and vegetables loose.
Carrier bags are soft plastic and cannot be recycled at home. Most supermarkets now have an in-store collection point to recycle soft and thin plastics, including carrier bags. If this is not an option, carrier bags should be placed in your black household waste bin at home. Please do not put these in your dry recycling (green/orange lidded) or garden waste bin. 

Soft plastic packaging should be removed from food and put in your black household waste bin before putting your food waste in your brown food waste caddy.
