Priory View wins prestigious national award
20 March 2017
Our landmark independent living scheme, Priory View, has been crowned the winner of a prestigious national award.
The development in Dunstable beat off tough competition and was awarded ‘Best Independent Living Scheme’ in the Higher Budget category in the country at the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards (link opens in new window) on Wednesday (15 March).
Councillor Carole Hegley, Executive Member for Social Care and Housing, attended the awards ceremony at The Lancaster Hotel, London, where team members from Kyle Smart, the scheme’s architect, and staff from Central Bedfordshire Council’s Housing team received the award.
Cllr Hegley said: “I am delighted to see the excellent design being rewarded for Priory View, and due thanks go to Kyle Smart for their innovation and creativity. This is a great achievement and we should all be very proud to be recognised for providing residents with the best quality of life in the design of Priory View.
“To further endorse their excellent work, Kyle Smart scooped a second award in the Lower Budget category for the Greenfields independent living scheme in Leighton Buzzard, by Aldwyck Housing Association, so there were joint celebrations at the event.
“The development is truly innovative and we have worked hard to listen to our residents to ensure they can live independently for as long as possible, with access to support if they need it. It is wonderful news to know that Priory View is achieving just that and is a great success.”
The annual Health Care Design Awards recognise the best health care developments across the UK and Priory View was crowned the winner for putting residents’ needs and desires at the heart of the final design.
