Sheltered housing de-designation
Eight former sheltered housing schemes have been let and managed differently from April 2017.
The schemes at Ashcroft, Mayfield Road, Albert Court and Saxon Close in Dunstable and Durrell Close, Linslade, and Richmond Road, Leighton Buzzard, have been de-designated. In the long-term, we want to use them to meet general housing needs for people of all ages. However, for the time being, in order to minimise the possibility of lifestyle clashes between new tenants and people who originally moved in as sheltered tenants, we will make sensitive lettings with priority to people aged 40 and above.

Southwood Road
The sheltered housing scheme at Southwood Road in Dunstable has been re-designated as being particularly suitable for people aged 40+ with low-level support needs. The scheme continues to benefit from a site management service and a scheme alarm, and sensitive lettings apply.

Kingsbury Court
Kingsbury Court sheltered scheme has been re-designated for people aged 55 and over, and for people that have a disability with priority to those aged 40+. The scheme continues to benefit from a Supported Housing Officer service and a scheme alarm, and Sensitive Lettings apply.

Durrell Close and Richmond Road
The schemes at Durrell Close, Linslade, and Richmond Road, Leighton Buzzard, have been de-designated In the long-term we want to use them to meet general housing needs for people of all ages. However, for the time being, in order to minimise the possibility of lifestyle clashes between new tenants and people who originally moved in as sheltered tenants, we will make Sensitive Lettings with priority to people aged 40 and above.
