Cllr James Jamieson (link opens in new window), Conservative, is Leader of the Council and Chairman of the Executive. Cllr Jamieson was re-elected at the Full Council meeting held in Priory House, Chicksands on Thursday, 19 May 2016.

Cllr Adam Zerny (link opens in new window), Independent, is Minority Group Leader.

Cllr Antonia Ryan (link opens in new window) is Labour Group Leader.

Central Bedfordshire Council comprises of 59 councillors.

The breakdown is:

  • 52 Conservatives
  • 4 Independents
  • 2 Labour
  • 1 Liberal Democrat

The previous administration had 47 Conservatives, 6 Independent councillors, 4 Liberal Democrats and 1 Labour councillor, so the elections held on 7 May 2015 represents no change in overall control of the local authority.
